About
Independent, and small on purpose

Conolly Publishing is an independent shop based in Chicago, Illinois. What began as a family newspaper is today a one-person software studio, building a small number of tools by hand and keeping them that way.

The work is made to last, not to chase trends. No dark patterns, no selling anyone's data, no gimmicks bolted on for their own sake. Just a few honest tools, looked after by the person who makes them.

The company publishes its software under the Conolly Publishing name across the App Store and beyond.

The Work
What we make now

Daymark

A private notebook

A quiet place to write and keep your notes. Encrypted, and never fed to AI. It syncs across your phone, tablet, Mac, and the web, and keeps working when you're offline.

On the App Store

Goalpost

For the sports desk on Reddit

Runs game day for hockey communities on Reddit — opening and tending game threads, posting live score/stat boards so the moderators don't have to. Working now as nhl-goalpost and pwhl-goalpost, with ahl-goalpost soon.

Our Name
Where the name comes from
Embossed seal reading Conolly Publishing Ltd., Ontario Corporation

The name is older than any of the software.

Conolly Publishing was the company my parents ran their community newspaper under — The Brighton Independent, in Brighton, Ontario. It's long gone now, but the work they put into it, and the name they built, stayed with me.

I carried it forward for this company to honor their hard work. Their original embosser still sits on my desk; the mark above is its impression, pressed into paper.
